Kraff Eye Institute is involved in many clinical studies. Some of the clinical studies we have recently been involved with include:

laser vision

VISX WaveScan Wavefront - This state of the art technology allows optical imaging of the entire eye. The entire optical system can be evaluated and the information used to calculate treatment tables for each individual patient.

laser vision

VISX Excimer Laser Study - Since 1991, the Kraff Eye Institute has been involved with VISX in pioneering the field of laser vision correction. Owning our own VISX Excimer Laser, we have the most sophisticated hardware and software available in the world. Both myopia (nearsighted) studies and hyperopia without astigmatism have been competed and FDA approved for commercial use. Hyperopia with astigmatism is still under FDA investigation.

Autonomous Excimer Laser Study - Using a tracker assisted laser beam while performing PRK, this study is now complete and the procedure has been FDA approved.

laser vision

Sunrise Solid State Laser - The Kraff Eye Institute has been involved in a study using the Sunrise LTK (laser thermal keratectomy) "hot" laser to treat mild cases of hyperopia. The study is currently under FDA investigation.

laser vision

STARR Toric Intraocular Lens - Now approved for use, the Kraff Eye Institute was involved in the clinical trials to study a new type of cataract lens implant to correct corneal astigmatism. The Toric lens has a built in correction for astigmatism, therefore significantly reducing the need for glasses after cataract surgery and/or incisional corneal surgery.

laser vision

AMO Soft Acrylic Intraocular Lens - Currently under FDA investigation, a new lens made out of a soft, pliable material can be folded and inserted through a small incision during cataract surgery.

laser vision

STAAR Implantable Contact Lens - A study that has received media attention, this investigation is currently determining if a contact lens inserted into the eye, on top of the human natural lens, behind the pupil, is able to be a viable alternatives to laser vision correction for people with severe myopia and hyperopia. The study is under FDA investigation.

laser vision

Diclofenac Sodium Drug Study - The Kraff Eye Institute participated in the study that recently provided FDA approval on a drug that controls postoperative inflammation after cataract surgery.

Laser vision correction will change the way you see the world!
