CustomVue

Kraff Eye Institute CustomVue Wavescan Technology
Your eyes are unique to you and have a mapping similar to your fingerprint or your DNA, no two are alike.  With that being the case, it is important to create a treatment plan for your individual eye imperfections. CustomVue is the most contemporary LASIK technology, which allows the Kraff Eye Institute surgeons to map the “fingerprint” of your eyes and enables us to construct customized treatments.  Colman R. Kraff, M.D. was a principle investigator involved in the FDA trials for the CustomVue procedure and treated the very first patient in the United States in 2001.
What is CustomVue?
CustomVue is the actual LASIK procedure tailored for the individual characteristics of your eyes.  Prior to the LASIK procedure, we use AMO WaveScan technology to capture the unique imperfections in your vision that could not have been measured before. This new level of measurement provides twenty-five times more precision than measurements using standard methods for glasses and contact lenses. WaveScan technology produces a detailed map of your eye and translates this information into a set of CustomVue treatment instructions for the laser. WaveScan information and digital instructions are then transferred to the STAR S4 IR™ Excimer Laser System, providing a new level of precision and accuracy for the Kraff Eye Institute LASIK surgeons.
Is CustomVue right for me?
CustomVue treatments can be used for many patients, including those with nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism.  In fact, because we are able to meaure an individual wavefront map of your eyes, we are able to treat a wider range of patients than ever before.  If you are interested in visiting with a CustomVue specialist at Kraff Eye Institute, we encourage you to schedule a free consultation with us.  We will discuss the benefits and risks of the procedure with you, and take a WaveScan measurement to determine if CustomVue is right for you.  Upon review of your WaveScan results, we will be able to identify an individualized approach for your condition.

If you would like more information about CustomVue or would like to schedule a consultation, please contact us via e-mail or call us at 1-(312) 265-3400.
