Currently there are two FDA approved implantable lenses for nearsightedness—the Visian Implantable Collamer Lens (ICL) by Staar Surgical and the Verisyse lens by AMO. The Kraff Eye Institute was involved in the original FDA clinical study for the Visian, and Dr. Manus Kraff was the first surgeon in Chicago to perform this procedure. These lenses are typically used for correction of higher levels of nearsightedness in qualified patients.
Many of the PhakicIntraocular Lens patients are patients that otherwise do not qualify for LASIK. These are typically patients that have extreme myopia, or nearsightedness. The Kraff Eye Institute offers both of these new, advanced technologies. For more information and to schedule a consultation to see if you qualify for either of these lenses, please call (312) 265-3400.
If you would like to schedule an appointment with one of our doctors, please call (312) 265-3400 or fill out the form on the right.
